Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe with 5 Flavor Variations
If I had a dollar for every time I was asked for an amazing strawberry banana smoothie recipe I’d own my own island! And, I must admit, I just cannot believe that I haven’t posted a strawberry banana smoothie recipe on the site sooner. Just crazy! Well, I offer you these five variations of a strawberry banana smoothie as a peace offering that, I promise you, is worth the wait.
The trusty strawberry and banana smoothie has to be one of the most popular smoothie combinations that goes into the blender in most households!
And, with good reason, strawberries and bananas are just meant to live in the blender together. The classic smoothie combo is super delicious, and loaded with nutrients and dietary fiber. A strawberry and banana smoothie is also a great energizing breakfast option.
I decided that, rather than add to the multitude of strawberry banana smoothie recipes out on the web, that are basically very very similar (or exactly the same recipe), I’d offer you a base recipe and four flavor variations, so you could take your strawberry banana smoothie addiction to the next level, and keep things interesting.
The basic recipe for a strawberry and banana smoothie is very simple, and my version contains just 5 ingredients. (Well, four ingredients if you choose not to add sweetener.)
How To Make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie
The basic strawberry banana smoothie ingredients are:
- some kind of milk (I’m using almond milk, but coconut, cashew, hemp, or oat work great, too!)
- frozen strawberries
- ripe banana (fresh or frozen)
- vanilla extract (optional, but kicks things up a notch)
- sweetener (optional, depending on the sweetness of your fruit)
Throw all of the ingredients into your blender, and blast on high for 30 to 60 seconds, until smooth and creamy.
Flavor Variations For Your Strawberry Banana Smoothie
To kick things up a notch, here are four flavor variations. With the exception of the lassi variation (where you omit the almond milk and replace it with the yogurt), simply add the below ingredients to the base recipe:
Creamy Rosewater
- 1/2 cup raw unsalted cashews
- 1 teaspoon pure rosewater
Bell Pepper Cayenne
- 1/2 medium red bell pepper
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
Lemon Goji
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons goji berries
Lassi
- 2 cups plain or vanilla yogurt (in place of milk)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
These variations all have different personalities of their own. So, this is essentially five different strawberry banana smoothie recipes (counting the base recipe).
Other Ingredients To Boost A Strawberry Banana Smoothie:
There are some other amazing fresh herbs and spices you can add to the base recipe to kick your strawberry banana smoothie up to wow. Here are some of my go-to boosters:
- 1/4 cup fresh basil
- 1/4 cup fresh mint
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon virgin coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon flax oil
- 1 tablespoon flax seeds
- 1 tablespoon hemp seeds
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
Let me know which variations you make, and which ones you liked the best!
