Blueberry Hemp Superfood Smoothie
This blueberry hemp protein powder smoothie is loaded with vitamin, protein, fiber, and antioxidants for an energizing breakfast, detox, or workout drink.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (240ml) filtered water
- 1 1/4 cups (300g) vegan vanilla yogurt
- 3 tablespoons hemp protein powder
- 1 tablespoon sprouted flaxseed meal
- Pinch of Celtic sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon probiotic powder (optional, see notes)
- 2 cups (320g) frozen blueberries
Instructions
-
Throw all of the ingredients into your blender and blast on high for 30 to 60 seconds until smooth and creamy.
Recipe Notes
*Probiotic Powder - I add 1/2 teaspoon of probiotic powder to all smoothies to replenish stores of healthy bacteria for immunity, digestion, detox, and to balance the acidic effects of high-sugar fruits and other sweeteners. The really potent probiotics require refrigeration. If you have capsules, break the shell and release the powder. Unsweetened probiotic-rich liquids like kefirs (water, coconut water, milk varieties) or kombucha make wonderful health-promoting additions to shakes, too.
*Celtic Sea Salt - I add a pinch (or more) of this alkalizing, mineral-rich salt to all smoothies to boost the natural flavor of fruits and veggies; temper the acidity of sweet fruits and sweeteners; stimulate the lymphatic system; replenish electrolytes; aid digestion; and help the body access energy. I do not recommend adding common table salt which is generally heated to extreme temperatures, iodized, bleached, processed, and refined. This salt does not have the same benefits. If you have a health condition that requires you to limit your sodium intake consult your doctor before adding salt to your smoothies.

So over-the-moon-happy with this yumful smoothie! Definitely sharing it with everyone! 🙂
Great! Enjoy 🙂
I have been wondering how to incorporate blueberries into a smoothie. They seem so plain. Maybe I’m going about it the wrong way. I’ll try this out.
By the way does this hemp protein powder include the shells of the hemp seeds as well as the seed? The reason I’m asking is that I purchased hemp protein powder from a certain company and it has a kind of bitter taste. I’ve been apprehensive to try it again. I’m very happy with actual raw hemp seeds though. thanks for any feedback.
Oh, blueberries are FABULOUS in smoothies. Play around and you will find some blends that you love. With regards to the hemp seeds, they are shelled, and so is the hemp protein powder. Different proprietary blends taste different depending on the additives and sweeteners. But hemp powder can be bitter. Add some sweet fruits and banana when you start using it, and your taste buds and body change and get used to it.
Hello! Love your website!
Is there a particular reason why you use flaxseed powder over the seeds in your smoothies? I’m just curious. Thanks!!
Thanks Trisha, This is a recipe from Navitas Naturals and they use flax powder. You can use ground flax seeds in this recipe too. Flax seeds need to be ground in order to be digested and fully utilized by the body. If you have a high-speed blender you don’t need to grind them before adding to a smoothie.
