This green tea face mask with avocado, oats, and honey is a fantastic DIY beauty treatment that really works. You can make it in less than 5 minutes, and it will make your skin look and feel amazing.

“What do you use on your skin to keep it so smooth?” I get asked this question every week. While I maintain that you love your skin from the inside out by keeping hydrated; eating a diet rich in high-water-content foods like leafy greens and non starchy veggies, healthy plant-based fats, and antioxidants; getting lots of sleep; and staying out of the sun; using natural topical masks and creams does bolster your internal agenda.

What we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in them. Our skin is the largest organ in our bodies, and it absorbs whatever we put onto it. I use food-grade skincare on my face and body, and I’ve been making this quick easy green tea, avocado, and honey skin mask for years.

With loads of healthy fats, as well as antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, as well as the magical antioxidant glutathione, avocado pulls toxins out of the skin while lubricating it leaving it soft and supple. Green tea is also chock-full of antioxidants, as well as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which calms inflammation. To boost this potential, add the optional matcha powder, which has 100 times the EGCG of regular brewed green tea. Raw honey cleans the skin with its natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, citric acid in the lemon juice brightens the skin, while the oats gently exfoliate.

I use my KitchenAid® Pro Line® Series blender to make homemade skincare, and I whip up this mask once a week, and apply to my face and body to give it a glow. I stand in the shower, apply it all over, and then gently wipe it off with a damp soft cloth. To see me make this mask, watch my video at BlendWithKitchenAid.com.

If you have sensitive skin, blend the mask a bit longer to keep the oats really small so it’s not as abrasive. Don’t be alarmed if the mask brings up a redness in the skin. This is indicative of the mask pulling out toxins, and the redness typically reduces after about 10 minutes. But, I always put the mask on at night to allow any redness and inflammation to calm overnight.

Head to KitchenAid.com to learn more about the new Pro Line® Series blender. This amazing new high-speed machine is currently available at Williams-Sonoma. There is a base model for $499 and an upgraded model with pre-programmed settings and a dual-wall container for $599. Both machines have the same powerful motor.

The blender will be available in other retailers in the United States and in stores in Europe and Australia in September and October.

    1. Unfortunately, due to the pure nature of the mask and the high level of oxidation that occurs with avocado this doesn’t keep well in the fridge. I make it and use it immediately. You could alway half the recipe and mash it all with a fork for a smaller batch.
