Awesome Almond Green Pea Dip

July 22, 2010

Want a raw vegan green pea dip is super easy and seriously delicious. Just throw everything in the food processor and devour.

Awesome Almond Green Pea Dip

This awesome almond green pea dip is crazy easy and is unbelievably delicious. This dip is raw, vegan, gluten-free, and sooo good.

I found a lonely little bag of green peas in my freezer the other night begging for a nutty match. As I lay my hands on those naked little beads my taste buds immediately starting salivating in the midst of a culinary wet dream spurred on by vivid sense memory of a delectable green pea dip I made with Kurma Dasa on a balmy night in Melbourne many years ago.

The second that dip hit my lips, it was love at first bite! Whenever I’m looking for a show-stopping dip I always turn to Kurma’s book. Check out the creamy cashew dip and his exquisite muhammara.

This almond and pea dip is super easy, bursting with flavor, and incredibly versatile. Another added bonus is that the flavor mix is different from your store-bought dips, and makes a unique addition to the usual offerings. This dip is spectacular with veggie sticks, and is fantastic slathered on sandwiches and wraps.

  1. Hey Tash! Yes – you can totally use regular raw almonds in this recipe and it turns out the same. I only suggest soaking and dehydrating all of the raw nuts to make them more digestible.

  2. Scrumptious! It goes so beautifully and deliciously with gluten-free crackers & a bunch of raw veggie sticks.
    slurp… grunt… gone… *sigh*

  3. That looks awesome! I am excited to make some. I sure can’t wait to harvest garden fresh produce. This will be sooo good. Thanks for sharing your raw food recipes. I really do appreciate it. Brian Schamp @BrianSchamp

  5. I am so glad you enjoyed this dip.
It is one of my all-time favourite recipes and I LOVE it when other piggies think it rocks too.
Try the creamy cashew dip, the macadamia pesto, the vegan pesto, the beetroot dip and the muhammara. They ROCK too!
You can never have enough “fillers”

  6. Yes, peas. (Ha, see what I did there??!) Blender girl, I want to dip my whole head in this stuff, it’s so GOOOOOD! Oink.

  7. Hey UmmBinat
Yes, the blanched sliced almonds are great in this dip. Thanks for reviewing this recipe on Food.Com.

  9. WONDERFUL! Thanks Brooke.
I am so glad you are trying all of the dips.
I think they are some of the easiest most delicious versatile recipes on the site.
    ENJOY 🙂

  10. I just got a box of raw peas, do you think it’s the same if i make this with raw instead of frozen peas or will they be too soft?

    Thanks!

  11. Can’t wait to make this, it looks delicious and refreshing! One question. I know that soaking almonds makes them more digestible. What does the step of dehydrating them do?

    1. If you’re not going to use soaked nuts to make milk or other recipes, they need to dry to store or they will get moldy. This dip would only keep for two days if you use soaked nuts that have not been dried. Also, in the case of this dip, we want the crunchy texture of dried nuts.

  12. Made it without the soak and dry fuss (since I have never had any digestive problem, and it is time consuming -and energy consuming by the way- also). Very nice.
But I tell you what, my favorite is the beetroot. It is royal.
I’ll try the others and let you know.

    1. Awesome! So glad you enjoyed it. Yes! I love love love that beet dip, too. Try the creamy cashew dip. It’s EPIC!

  13. This is so easy and fantastic! (And addicting!) I added a little chopped garlic and a tiny bit of jalapeño. Ate it with a spoon. #notsorry
