Cleansing Carrot Apple Strawberry Juice

This delicious carrot apple strawberry juice from The Decadent Detox 3-Day Juice Cleanse tastes like a refreshing mocktail.

Strawberries are loaded with vitamin C and other antioxidants, and carrots pack beta carotenes to combat free radicals for sweet immunity. Lemon alkalizes and detoxifies the liver, and apple breaks down toxins in the intestinal tract. Romaine is loaded with minerals that calm the body and prepare it for rest.

The Health Benefits of Strawberry Juice

Strawberries help those grey cells live longer and transmit messages better. Along with truckloads of vitamin C and other antioxidants for heart health, strawbs aid digestion and weight loss, and phytonutrients combat the development of abnormal cells. Relatively low in natural sugar, strawberries pair well with most fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens. Juicing berries can feel decadent and wasteful. To get the most bang for your buck, remove the calyx (green stem/leaf) and push the berries through the juicer alternating with high-water-content foods like cucumber, oranges, and apples, and little bit of filtered water.

The Health Benefits of Apple Juice

Tasty, able to break down toxins, lower cholesterol, and enhance digestion, apple is a popular, versatile, and cost-effective go-to for juices. With phytonutrients, powerful antioxidants like quercetin, vitamin A (in the peel), vitamin C, and significant potassium, apple is a prime detox food that’s available year ‘round. As an aid to cleansing, apples’ high pectin content provides a great bowel regulator, able to slow the colon down or speed it up, as the body needs.

Apple is a cooling food, and we include it in juices to balance the bitterness of leafy greens and other vegetables. The sweet tang of apple blends with almost all fruits and vegetables; our preferred variety is Granny Smith, which has a tarter flavor and lower sugar content than common reds like Fuji, Delicious, and Honeycrisp. That said, this fruit is versatile, and our recipes work with any apple you have on hand.

We recommend coring apples before juicing, as the jury is still out as to whether the bit of cyanide occurring naturally in the seeds is detrimental to health.

The Health Benefits of Carrot Juice

A relative of parsley and celery, carrots contain loads of life-extending carotenes and minerals. This vegetable helps lower cholesterol, too, and alleviates skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, all while enhancing the respiratory system’s resistance to infection. A great source of vitamin A, carrots also contain the magical antioxidant glutathione, which protects against free radical damage, and B vitamins, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus. Carrots fuel the production of white blood cells and enhance their performance, and are a great immune booster. These brilliant orange roots also deliver powerful anti-inflammatory agents, helping to relieve the symptoms of rheumatism and arthritis.

Carrot is a warming and strengthening vegetable perfect for cleansing. Cut off the greens (the jury is still out as to whether they are toxic or beneficial), but don’t peel the roots—much of carrots’ nutrients lie in the skin or just beneath. Just scrub, roughly chop (if using certain masticating juicers) and push through your juicer. The earthy sweet flavor of the juice, much richer than that of carrot itself, combines well with apple, pineapple, beets, tomato, ginger, and cinnamon, so this one works well in both sweet and savory juices.

The Health Benefits of Lemon Juice

This alkalizing tart tamer is a potent detoxifier and natural antibiotic that improves liver function, relieves constipation, and can help dissolve kidney and gall stones. High levels of vitamin C help boost immunity and alleviate symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as combat heart disease. Lemons provide calcium and magnesium for strong bones and teeth, along with unique compounds that have powerful antioxidant properties. The flavonoids in lemons have even been shown to halt abnormal cell division.

While lemons are cooling, this superstar can be balanced with warming foods like cayenne and fennel. We use lemons in lots of juice blends to lift the earthy and pungent quality of leafy greens and vegetables, add zip and tang, and balance the acidifying impacts of high-sugar fruits. You may want to remove the rinds of these fruits before juicing, as in substantial quantities they’re slightly toxic, or you may enjoy the zesty punch it adds—a good compromise is a bit of the peel along with the flesh.

The Health Benefits of Romaine Juice

This flavorful lettuce was believed by the ancient Greeks to induce sleep, so it came into their banquet halls at the end of the meal. The Romans carried on the custom, and it’s from them that the green derives its name. Romaine does more than aid sleep and alleviate pain. It offers compounds that prevent macular degeneration and osteoporosis, iron-deficiency anemia, and cardiovascular disease. The leaves are an excellent source of vitamin A and beta-carotene, as well as vitamins K, B, C, and folate, xanthin and carotenes. Romaine reinforces all this with iron—and calcium, magnesium, potassium, manganese, and copper. And with a nice crunch, too, come to think of it.

We use romaine as a natural sedative in evening juices. It is cooling, but as it’s inexpensive and available year-round, we include it in cleanses for every season. Juice the core from which the leaves grow, along with the leaves themselves, for a mellow, slightly bitter, fresh “green” flavor. Pair romaine with any fruits and vegetables; it’s especially nice with lemons and limes. Too much romaine can yield a bitter juice. A pinch of Celtic sea salt helps balance flavor.

This carrot apple strawberry juice is really delicious. Don’t miss it.

  1. I just made the Raw “Liquid Sunshine” Morning Cleansing Juice in my vitamix this morning and loved it!! I have forced myself to drink many green juices that weren’t very tasty and so quit drinking this. A great recipe indeed!

    1. Oh, I’m so pleased you enjoyed this juice. Karen’s recipes are so simple and fun. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. I made “Liquid Sunshine” this morning. It was extra zesty because I forgot to remove the rind from the lemon. I didn’t strain the pulp. It was delicious! Great way to start my day!

    1. You always strain when doing a juice cleanse. You only want the juice, not the fibers. If you aren’t doing the 3-day spring cleanse, then you don’t have to strain any of them. Just enjoy!

When fasting, it is necessary to strain the juices to ensure that solid pieces are not consumed. Solid food will encourage the digestive process to begin again and will make you hungry. This is not desirable. Straining is not necessary if cleansing without fasting. If you feel like you need more juice, more calories, or are a little low in blood sugar, you can repeat any of these juices during the same time period of any given day.

    1. Absolutely. Just blend the ingredients with 1 to 2 cups of water, blend, tweak flavours to taste, and then strain. Enjoy 🙂

    1. We only recommend straining if consuming this juice as part of the 3-day juice fast. At all other times, it’s great (and preferable) to drink juices unstrained to get some of the fiber. Enjoy!
